Bro, we know lah ... just wanted to "short hand" ... :) You were the one who told me 210mm and 203mm doesn't make a difference ... 0.5" also can just round off lah .... HAHA ... :)

John, I see your new ride has a huge boot space but no room for passengers.
Not a good sign!

Gee....looking for the writeup of how the expedition went, but didn't find leh. Anxious to know. I was planning to be there for a night, but personal issue came up so had to miss it. Sigh...ended up in Dempsey instead, which was still a relatively good night.

I was unable to join this Mersing trip because I have to go to the airport to help my wife on her return from San Antonio (Texas). Hey, I would like to join you all at Dempsey someday... it's so near my place at Redhill!

I went with Ian and Rlow on Fri nite. The sky was cloudy at sunset, but within an hour, patches of the skies started to clear up. While cloud-cover remained at about 50% till about midnite, transparency was excellent.

For an hour or two, the northern skies was consistently clear and we had great views of the northern DSOs. My most memorable object of the night was the whirlpool galaxy. Its spiral arms were clearly visible with direct vision in the portaball. The faint arm that connects the whirlpool to its companion galaxy NGC 5195 was visible too. Its a really amazing sight to see these two photogenic galaxies with so much detail, live with your own eyes! :) Also, M104 was amazing at 300x in the portaball. The nite's transparency was about the best I have enjoyed in mersing for a long while.

The clouds came in at midnite and we packed up hurriedly as it was threatening to rain. The 3 of us decided to return to Singapore, but soon after leaving Mersing town, we noticed that the southern skies have cleared. So off we turned into a deserted road and held an impromptu session to enjoy the clear skies one last time before arriving back in Sg at 4am in the morning. Another great mersing trip!!

Wonder how the second nite went for the rest of the group?
We do it in the dark...
