Good online retailer?

Post by bedhouin »

Hi Guys,

I'm currently living out of KL, and looking for a decent online retailer for accessories thats ships to this region. I was trying to get some stuff from Scopetronix but heck, they don't even ship to Singapore let alone Malaysia.

I get all of the heavy stuff (Scope, Mount etc) locally because shipping would be a killer. I think I can get away with the accessories because they'll be much smaller, lighter, and less prone to damage.

Essentially looking for filters, lenses, ccd cameras that sort of thing.

Feedback from anyone who has bought stuff like this from an online retailer will be mucho mucho appreciated.

Try: www.astrobargains.com

If you can't find it, email Joo Beng and he will get it for you!

Or: www.starmatrix.biz

Also: www.mcgill.com.sg

Cheers!

Hi bedhouin,
I have personally met Robin Low of McGill and Koh Joo Beng of Astrobargains on separate occasions. My experiences with them have been wonderful.

Robin advised me on my first telescope purchase. I am very satisfied with the Vixen ED80Sf package he arranged for me. He also introduced me some useful accessories to buy. With his recommendations, I built a complete basic setup to start my amateur astronomy hobby.

Joo Beng showed me future astrophotography options when I bought the Orion StarShoot Deep Space Imaging Camera and the Orion SteadyPix Universal Camera Mount from him. He also showed me other interesting stuff on amateur astronomy. I am planning to purchase some things from him again soon.

I've also bought a used personal telecope from Robert Lebek of House of Optics Germany. Robert attended to all my enquiries very promptly. He even guided me through the entire process on sending remittance safely to Germany using Western Union (I was totally new to that system, never even heard of it then). Though we have not met in person, I was impressed by his constant checking that I received the goods in order and that I know how to use the self-made accessories which came with it.

I'm sure you'll find these dealers very helpful in your enquiries. All the best with your orders and purchases.

Cheers!
