I dun understand why the need to fear the police.....
Trust me, they are not going to give u trouble whether you have 4 people there or 20 people there, AS LONG you do not disturb others.
I think quite a few of us here have had our days with the police already. And most know that the police are pretty harmless with stargazers. I had met them in multi-storey car parks, in beaches in sentosa, in some isolated areas in Lim Chu Kang, etc often with funny looking scopes. Even once with the 12" LX200GPS at Punggol pointing towards the Johor Pasir Gudang port with another 6 guys around me. 3 police cars came and even that they didn't haul me to the police station. So why fear of such harmless stargazers gathering.? Wait till you see those weekly street racers gatherings at Yishun Dam and you will realised that ours is really mild.
So just go and enjoy yourself.

Hmmm... any IT expert out there? Someone should write a wireless network program so that our island-wide telescope systems linkage can help the police zero in any criminals on the run. Call it the SingAstro SkyCam Service. Can also help LTA in traffic condition broadcasts too. Good community service that SingAstro can offer in partnership with the police, thus building closer ties and understanding. The police is our friend!

Off-topic too:
Ha ha ha... yeah, read that a while ago. Ed Ting's scope review page is a wonderful resource. Really enjoyed the story!
Back on topic:
I am planning to bring my classical cassegrain as well, if I can pack it all in a trolley-bag to walk from home. However, the collimation may be out by the time I reach the park and I need help / advice on collimating a classical cassegrain.

I have found an applet on Sky and Telescope website. Perhaps it was there long ago but I did not notice. The applet is on Jupiter's moon position and events. It seems like there will be a shadow transit from Io tomorrow during the JUM meeting. According to it, the shadow transit ends at 8.52pm.
