Is it true about premium telescope?

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

indeed true. read a post about vinsnr having to wait a very long time and they eventually forgot about him. i think that was the astrophysics list. mmmm.. read in other forums that ppl have waited for a couple of years now. anyway , i suppose that's part of their quality control .

TEC too. Also a long waiting list. If you read about the waiting list on the Astro Physics website, you will be surprised by the instructions given to potential customers.

Their quality is something which makes people 'die' for.

Among AP, TMB, TEC, Tak, TV, and SV,
only TMB and Tak have scopes in stock or have a short waiting list.

The AP waiting list is about 6 years long :)

I think it is plain silly for AP to continue making people wait long. It is already the 21st century and there are many alternatives now. Anyway I think their business model is just to make a few scopes a year and then laze around other times.

In the 90s, their quality is the best. Today, I don't see TMB, TEC or even Tak lose out to the AP in terms of quality. It is only those Americans that must buy Americans goods that keep AP in business. If AP is in Asia, I think they will be long gone.

That's an interesting point to note.

It seems like having lunch. We join a long queue at a food centre and then wait for 30 mins for the finest food before our turn. By then, we would have wasted 30 mins in the queue, while many would have finished lunch (eating other food) and resting their legs..

For a scope, I don't feel comfortable having to wait for a few years, after making payment. I'll go for a Tak instead.

I'm in the AP waiting list for one of their scopes. Meanwhile, an opportunity came up for another quality scope which I am very interested in. If it materializes beforethe AP scope, which I think it probably would, I would cancel the AP scope order. After all, I do not have unlimited patience!

I have enjoyed and appreciated the quality of the AP apos but I won't want to wait 6 years for one. You can always get one from Astromart now and then, and also, now there are quite a few other competitive brands that produce apos of comparable quality.
