Is it true? Tak Mewlons are cheaper?

That's my point, if a local distributor can't fix it locally and the user have to pay shipping cost for repair even during warranty. Then no different if you buy it online or from other vendor, who ever have better offer win.

hehe... I did not say Takahashi, their product are more reliable. Sorry, my previous post is a bit off topic.

For Optic and allignment, you can get service from some vendor here, but the electonic stuff in some mount is something that you have to watch out. I am sure there are some horror stories in Singapore too.

I asked in a Post Office about shipping optics using EMS and the guy said it wasn't recommended and to use DHL or Fedex!! I think vpost uses EMS for shipments? Its not so much that shipping is possible, its just shipping $1000s of dollars of delicate optics when people are treating your package as a football doesn't sound like a good option to me.

ariefm71 how did you buy in Japan? Did you use vpost or EMS?

Actually, Vpost Japan is not so much of a bargain as compared to Vpost USA. I once ordered a fragile spaceship model from Japan and the cost difference between direct shipping and via Vpost Japan was minimal. I chose direct shipment (less hassle). BTW, the vendor recommended EMS and the item arrived in good shape.

Vpost Japan only makes sense if the vendor does not ship outside of Japan.

I can not buy Tak stuffs directly (no language issue here, they just can't sell overseas), I have to ask a colleague in my Tokyo office to buy for me and ship through EMS.

I'll be selling another excellent Takahashi Mewlon 180 in a few weeks time. Pls PM me if anyone is interested before I sell it overseas (PM only). A brand new OTA is now selling for US$2500 plus shipping.
