Orion's 120mm ED Refractor!

Haven't visited Orion's website for a long time, so popped in today and saw they have a new 120mm ED (Apo?) refractor for USD2000!

5" may be passable for DSOs, but I think it will make a killer planetary scope.

So, Arief, when are you getting one?

At f/7.5 an ED doublet will suffer significant color problem (they should go with f/11 instead, but will be too long for most ppl). At that speed, they should go with a triplet.

If it is the Meade 5000 tripet APO 127mm f/7.5, price is ~US$1800, even cheaper than Orion 127ED

Cool. Looks like apos are really getting better and more important affordable. I will wait a few more years.

On the other hand, premium newtonians seem to be getting more expensive.
