Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

Saddle plate??

Post by river »

I started with Celestron equipment and I have two Celestron dovetail. One of the dovetail is fix on the OTA and the other is use with a set of tube ring. Both the dovetail are all 45mm (1.75") wide as oppose to Vixen style 43mm(1.7") wide.

Is there any economic saddle plate that accept Celestron dovetail? Do you know the max width of Vixen saddle plate?

Is there a big difference?

I have a Celestron Dovetail, which I can use it on the Porta Mount Saddle plate.

I've always assumed the dovetail size is standard. Any one can clarify?

You will need a saddle plate like this:
http://www.goto-kyoei.co.jp/netshop/vix ... march.html
(the second from the top). It costs about S$50 in Japan.

So far, I have requests to buy 4 for nice singastro guys. I have seen that many people want this saddle plate. How about a group order? I expect that the total cost will be about S$90 (or less) for each arriving your hands. The price difference covers TH-JP transfer fee and shipping cost.

Let me know if you or anyone want it.

Guys,

I was digging through my astro stash and found the top 2nd and third items indicated by anat, totally brand new and unopened. Totally forgot I had them . Please let me know if want them.

PS. Sorry Jeremy, I only found them after I told you I did not have them, and by that time you already bought from someone else.

You can also get a similar saddle fabricated in S'pore for about $80, with a clamping jaw instead of the locking screw, which will mar your dovetail.
