Hi,
May be you want to check the folowing:
1) did you align to north,
2) tripod and optical tube are level,
3) time and date key in correctly,
4) latitude, longitude, and time zone are correct.

Have a nice day.

Eh AFAIK cone errors affects only equatorial mounts. For alt-az mount, just need to ensure that the OTA is securely held in place, and the alignment process will correct for any mounting errors.

I have used various DS/ETX mounts before and the initial 5-10 degree off during alignment is not unusual. Autostar can easily compensate for any slight initial leveling and point-north errors. What I suspect is that your zenithstar OTA is not perfectly balanced. Hence as the mount slews to the second alignment star, the clutch slips slightly. This accounts for the larger error you observe on the second alignment star. Try carefully balancing the OTA on the mount first.

Weixing's tips are worth trying out too. Good luck! :)

Didn't know that bout cone error ... Just learnt something new. :)

Anyway, same thing happened to me too, my scope was a little too heavy for my DS mount last time when I put in all the accesories and the gear kept slipping .... Was ok after I removed stuff. :)
