My suggestion is also that you save up and buy a better scope first. Unless it's a very good diy scope, there's no real need to buy so good eyepieces. I have a decent 5" Maksutov and i'm still using basic eyepieces, nothing fanciful, and yet i can see very nice views!

Buying of objective lenses... you want to make your own better scope? I think it's easier to just buy.. Also i wouldn't recommend refractors as a first scope. Too expensive for the aperture. A good 80mm refractor would cost more than my 5" Mak.

I think your current DIY scope is probably more suited for low power views. If you want to try a cheap but excellent 5mm eyepiece, an orthoscopic eyepiece is THE best, but I suggest that you try it out first on your scope before buying.

im sorry .. but im using my diy scope. the objective lens is from an old bino. 2" but only 180mm FL
50mm f/3.5? make sure you test the ep you're buying to see if it can focus or not.

The UO ortho and the circle-T orthos are basically the same, from Japan. The drawback of the short-focal length orthos are the short eye-relief and narrower field of view, otherwise they are excellent for planetary observation, especially if you are using a tracking mount. If you like, I have some that you can test it out on your scope.
