Capturing deep-sky daytime.

Post by VinSnr »

Since we can't get good skies at night, how about capturing them during daytime?

The MallinCam will make that 16" SCT a 48". Can't imagine what it will look like if the image is captured at night time.

I am amazed that the M3 was captured as a single frame, no stack nothing.

That camera is specially modded for this kind of purposes. But pretty expensive.

I'm really surprised they can actually resolve the difference between the faint object and day light.....must have very high dynamic range..

If I am not wrong, should be ard 12 seconds max. That camera has an exposure of 2 secs, 6 secs and 12 secs.

That's a pretty good idea. Espeicially when most comets are discovered near dawn or sunset.

I had always wondered when young why those large observatories do not use their scopes during day time. The answer turned out that the daytime atmosphere is not stable enough for their precision work and they would have problems cooling the scopes down quickly at night if they exposed it to daytime temperatures. But for amateurs, I think it would not matter much.
[80% Steve, 20% Alfred] ------- Probability of Clear Skies = (Age of newest equipment in days) / [(Number of observers) * (Total Aperture of all telescopes present in mm)]
