Hi All,
I am an English speaking amateur astronomer that will be visiting Malaysia from Oct 8th through Oct 23rd from the United States.
I would love the opportunity to attend observation sessions being hosted by fellow amateur astronomers in Malaysia.
Just getting to see some constellations in the southern hemisphere would be great. I’m really interested in seeing Scorpio and any Messier object in the Scorpio area..
I will not have any telescope equipment with me.
Any opportunity to observe the southern hemisphere would be appreciated.
I will be staying in Kuala Lumpur.
Regards,
Danny

Hi,
Welcome to SingAstro!!

I think you may had discovered that the air quality and sky was condition these few days in this region (Malaysia and Singapore) are very bad... This is due to the thick haze from forest fires in Indonesia.

Hope that the weather will improve.
Have a nice day.

Hi Danny
Most of us observe from Singapore, though once a month, we venture to our favourite dark sky site on the east coast of Malaysia near the town of Mersing. Unfortunately, the moonsoon season is just about to start, and that means flooding along the coastal areas. I am doubtful anyone of us will be making our way up there this month.
Well if you happen to come down to Singapore, you might want to give us a beep. Maybe you might be lucky enough to visit during one of our infrequent non-cloudy nights
(though Scorpious is now very low in the sky already; a couple of months back would have been optimum). Good luck.
