Moon and Pleiades on 6th November

Post by perseid »

Just found out that the Moon will occult some of the brighter stars of Pleiades on that night around 10.20pm. To bad, the Moon will still be quite full and will miss some of the brightest stars.

Hi,
Yes... :D It'll occult one of the pleiades brightest star... Taygeta (19) at around 22:36 (base on my software). It's week day again :( , but I think still OK because it before mid-night... :P

Anyway, will be diffcult to image due to full moon... hmm... how to image an occultation... before and after?? Or may be can try to video it?? But I think it'll be very difficult due to the brightness of Full Moon... May be will have a test this weekend if can see the Moon (touch wood :P ).

By the way, I think visual should not be a problem.

Hope weather will be good.

Have a nice day.

Yes amin, the seven sisters are already up. They rise in the night sky before Orion rises, so if you can actually see M42 you confirm will be able to spot the seven sisters.

(Provided) the sky isn't cloudy, of course...

What i've done to starhop there in case you can't see, is to trace the distance between Bellatrix and Aldebaran, and extend that same distance up on the same line from Aldebaran. It works quite well for me. A bino would already suffice when seeing the seven sisters. :)

I've added an attachment of a printscreen from Starry Night Backyard, hope i didn't infringe any rules. The date and time of this picture is tonight 10:30pm. I've added a yellow line to show you that they are really in a line and the distance between Pleaides and Aldebaran is roughly the same as Aldebaran to Bellatrix ^^

Hi,
I think the only occultation we can see now is the occultation of Moon by M0 or NGC0000 (The Cloud Nebula)... *sign* :( :( :(

Have a nice day.

Hahahaha, the cloud nebula, weixing is a funny guy!

I have an idea here, what about we seperated the image into 2 parts. The stars and the Moon so that both can be exposured well. It will be a little difficult if you just have one scope I think or this can be done by 2 people?
Clear skies,
Robin.
