M87 with Jet
Hi,
Here is an image taken in June 2006 showing M87 and its jet of sub-atomic particles traveling at nearly the speed of light ... It's rather dim, I hope you can see it ...
http://www.singastro.org/album_showpage ... pic_id=564
- Imaged from my balcony in Singapore
- LX200GPS 12"at f10 with field derotator
- ST8 NABG camera and AO7
- 5 images @ 3 minutes each taken on 26 June and 2 images @ 5 minutes each taken on 27 June.
Passing clouds did not let me get more data ... to be continued next year ...
Cheers
Jean-Yves

Took this image of M42 in the morning of 28 December 2006.
It was taken from my observatory in Penang with my Canon 300D camera. The telescope used is MN56 (Mak-Newt 5inch F6).
The image is a stack of 28 images, each 120 seconds at 1600ASA setting.
Processing: Image reduction, colour correction on stars, selective sharpening on nebula and resize.
Autoguided with guidedog ...woof, woof

Yes, this is one of the best M42 i seen taken this part of the region...
( OT ) and if CK does not mind, i manage to unavel all 5 trapizium stars from you shot, which is very rare, to be taken even from Penang, some of the best M42 i have seen are taken in Mauna Kea, Hawaii. Frankly

Thank you all for the fine word of encouragement.wucheeyiun wrote:Yes, this is one of the best M42 i seen taken this part of the region...

For a few days this week, the sky here has been wonderful. Maybe, most of the clouds decided to "camp" above Singapore or Johor where there were flooding.
I was using the trapezium stars to do the fine focusing. In future, I'll try to take a high resolution image centered at the trapezium. The image posted has been reduce 75%. I can send you the HR version if needed.
While I'm happy with the current result, I regretted not having a H-a narrowband filter to increase the contrast and details.
(Sorry for the OT, do start a new thread for further comments)
