Nice pic!
one might not reach focus with a helica focuser in some imaging setup.
If you cant use helica focuser, can try a simple DIY. Just make one of the focusing knob larger (can use a jam bottle cover). With larger diameter knob, you can do better fine focusing.
--- can call it peanut butter fine focusing system.. haha
some reading on sunspot, enjoy

Ha Ha! I like the name of your focusing system! By the way I like peanut butter.
Have you ever tried DIY solar filter? I'm very interested to try if anyone of you have. For the time being I'm observing only using welding glass.
Cheers !!!

Welding glass seems ok. But don't try with other materials.. eyesight is so important.boothee wrote:Ha Ha! I like the name of your focusing system! By the way I like peanut butter.![]()

what meterial you have over there? Not sure if you can get baader solar filter sheet there, if you can get one mrngbss and other had posted how to make a solar filter.
I will give other idea here : Use Xray sheet, those blank one are very dark. you can fold them to get darker filter. Cover it over your scope and use your webcame to see the SUN, not with your eyes directly. this will increase the magnification and does not hurt your eyes.
for finder, I suggest fix two stick/cross upright on both ends of your newtonian and align the shadow on the ground to find the sun. That will not hurt your eyes and it is cheap.
