CC,
Do you have a cart to push it to the balcony? Do you leave the scope on the cart while observing? Does it have wheel lock?
My trolley is the normal goods trolley so it does not have wheel locks. I permanently leave my disassembled scope on the trolley and push it to my observing location and set it up.

What kind of weather is this!!
Just got back from a VERY good ob downstairs. It WAS super clear all the way till about 115am .. in the West at least ..
There was no/little "haze" around the moon, meaning no HAC ...
Tried out some toys, but only very briefly cos I only had so little time and I learnt my lesson - not to bring everything down at once.
I hope this kinda nights occur more often ..

Yes Jeremy I went out to observe the Moon and Saturn. The moon really looked nice with the Baader Moon Skyglow filter plus Transmission 13 percent moon filter. It was very nice grey/white and superbly dark background; so dark until I cannot see the field stop of my eyepiece and considering that is a big moon. I was observing Messier A and found many small craterlets < 2km around it that is not in my Atlas of the Moon book.
Saturn looked quite nice with quite a lot of banding on the planet; the pole was dark and there were about 3 thin lines and one thick equitorial belt. There was some shading too towards the pole. The rings this time is not that nice as it is quite edge on. I saw 6 moons around Saturn but mainly I think the contrast was robbed by the moon so close to it and the street lights that is shining at my home. Also, I don't have a dedicated observing chair so had to half squat stand position and it was tiring. I need to get the chair soon!
All in all it was a nice observing. It would be better if the seeing was better.

Cool! At least everyone who went out tonight is happy!
This Moon+Skyglow filter - what is it? Is it a broadband filter, Neodynium filter or some other kind of proprietary Baader filter? I ask cos Baader sometimes name their filter with exotic names but are the same as other pple. For eg their MV filter is called the "Contrast Enhancing filter" or something like that.
This M+SG filter seems to be quite talked about lately ... tell us more ..

Had a great time last night too observing the moon and Saturn. A pity the rings are getting more and more edge-on.
I carry the entire assembled scope (30kg) at one go as its only a short distance. If observing downstairs, I use a trolley to transport the assembled scope though its a bit tricky. May be building a custom cart for this purpose.Canopus Lim wrote:CC,
