I just saw the brightest meteor today i hope! Time is around 7.10pm,i was walking at towards the Kallang Mrt,then i noticed a very bright object streaking through the sky.First i thought i just a airplane coming to land, but then i noticed that the object is very bright and it even lightens the clouds as it passes through it.Then it come pass thought the clouds then i know it most probebly a meteorite as it as a long tail, its white and somewhat grennish in colour. Then it suddenly broken into much smaller pieces, atleast 5 i remember and it fades off.Happen about 5seclong. I only wish i have a camera and would really snap that shot. Surely someone have seen it too as its really bright!
Sorry if i sound abit "childish"haha.

3rdEvo you are a lucky guy! Can understand your excitement on seeing this phenomenon... nothing childish about it...
Heh Terry I like your avatar!
Clifford, it cannot be a comet as they change their position in the sky over a duration of hours rather than seconds.

Hi,
Got 3 possibility:
1) Venus,
2) Iridium Flares, and
3) Meteor
If the object is at the western sky, it might be Venus. Fast moving clouds will make it feel like it moving very fast and unstable atmospherics condition might cause the light of Venus to change colour due to dispersion. But if :
1) that area of sky is relatively clear and the object just disappear (not block by cloud), or
2) the object is high (above 30 degree) above ground level at that time, or
3) the object really break up to smaller pieces, or
4) got tail as you describe
Then it'll not be Venus.
Although I didn't find any Iridium Flares for yesterday on the heavens-above.com, but I'm not sure does heavens-above.com show history prediction of Daytime (they might still consider 7:40pm as Daytime) Iridium Flares. If it does, the possibility of an Iridium Flares will be very low.
Very bright Meteor is another possibility which could happen and it meet all the description.
Anyway, I think the object should be a very bright meteor as it meet basically all of the description and possibility of other cause is a bit too low.
You guys are really lucky to see it... I think the possibility to see such an event is a lot lower than the chances to strike TOTO, but I still prefer to strike TOTO.... ha ha ha

Have a nice day.
