Any astro-related places worth a visit in Delhi?

Post by ariefm71 »

I'm in New Delhi this week until saturday. Any astro-related places that I can visit while i'm here? Maybe Debash or Simranjits (or Tachyon :D ) can advise.

Hey...you are in my hometown :) There's a Vixen Distributor in the central area..the address is (tel # might have changed)

AUDO VISO PRIVATE LTD.
E-48, Connaught Place, New Delhi-11000
TEL:332 8828

Not sure what else they carry. Personally I've never been there. The amateur astro scene is pretty non-existent, so there aren't many shops around.

Hope the weather is good. Cheers

The night sky in New Delhi is rather badly light-polluted, if I recollect clearly from my trip there last year. :)

Worse is the thick film of pollutants/smoke hanging above the city, u can see it from the plane. Its slightly better in winters.

Arief, not sure if there's any planetarium.

Arief , u need to go to Himanchal Pradesh or Kashmir for good clear skies. But these are himalayan hill resort areas. No pollution though , even if u don't get to see stars , u get beautiful views.

Debash, I thought they're fogs, not smogs :-)

Simranjits, i'd love to go to the himalayas if time permit, maybe next time.

cheers,
Arief
