Saturn and Titan 5.3.2007

Post by YoKahainen »

Hi all

Here is a composite image of Saturn and Titan. Titan has been moved close to Saturn to show the relative sizes. The disc of Titan is "real" and was processed from a separate 2000 picture avi-clip. Seeing was 6/10.

Nexstar8i + ToUCam Pro II + Orion Tri-mag barlow + IR/UV-cut.

Thanks for the interesting composition yokahainen...
If I remember correctly, Titan's size is similar to Earth's , so this is what we would look like placed next to Saturn...
cheers

Hi

I am glad you liked my image, however Titan is a very large moon but not even close to Earths size: diameter 5150km vs 12756km.

Thanks...I am truly outdated now. I have an old astro book that I bought as a kid which depicted Titan as "having the same size as Earth and a blue sky because it is mostly nitrogen"....they can't be more wrong!
