CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Hi kong, that's a really nice and sharp moon image.

it looks a bit bright on my screen (could use a bit darkening), but perhaps that's because of my monitor grayscale setting.

i have one pic that i took using my Orion ED80mm, B&W CCD camera (only 1.4MP), and 12mm hydrogen-alpha filter. (i think this pic has good sampling).

imaging through the narrowband filter really helps a lot to cut down the glare =) . the combo is undersampled using my dslr, though.

Hi,
Hmm... I think some part of the Moon is too bright... may be you should shorter the exposure a bit... :) :)
anyone got a photo of the moon shot through an apo to share and discuss on the apo resulting in better contrast colour free images?
IMHO, I don't think an APO will produce much better result compare to your SN-8. Did you detect any colour on your SN-8 shot of the Moon??

Have a nice day.
