thanks vincent for the information.. Wonder why many shops from SIM LIM Square are not mentioned there.. I never had good experience there except for a AP and a few computer peripherals shops.. There are lot of Clubsnappers complaints against these shops including some big names..

Maybe because SLS itself already has such a notorious reputation such that tourists visiting Singapore already know to stay away from the building altogether ?

Hi,
In Sim Lim, you can get things at a good price provided that you know what you want to buy. Below are a few points:
1) Know what you want to buy first and get an idea what is the price range.
2) Ask the shop whether they got the stock first, before you ask for the price. Some shop will give you a ridiculous low price when they don't have the stock.
3) If they don't have stock and give you a very low price and ask you to place a deposit... DON'T DO IT... They most likely won't have the stock forever and they will recommend you other model which is more likely more expensive and may not suit you.
4)Before you do the purchase, check the warrenty and make sure the warrenty is for Singapore.
5) After you finish the purchase, don't go around other shop to ask the pricing... most of the time you will get a very low price.
6) Remember the above points and you have 90% of not getting the lowest price, but you have 90% of getting a reasonable price... :P

Hope the above information help and have a nice day.

hehe, how'bout trying this out. You'd need to shop around for a long, long time too...

Walk from 3rd floor up, note the prices and shops each one offers for the thing you want to buy. If you see a lower one (i mean about $20 less than average prices around) then go in and ask if they have stock, and then ask if they can offer you a lower price (mention that you're interested). Then say that you want to consider, and continue the hunt. There'll be at least a few shops like that, and then finally go for the one that can offer you the lowest price.

I always do that, and 70% of the time it gives me lowest prices possible :P

Hm... forgot to mention that every time I do that, I spend at least 2 hours hunting around THAT building alone... crazy, huh?

Well, you earn back in $20 in 2 hours , meaning 1 hr of hunting = $10 :P

Don't forget to ask if the GST is already included and if the price is for cash/NETS or Visa.
