Now, THIS is really fascinating - it's rather dazzling to see it presented this way.

I certainly thought this was enlightening, beyond our Sun... It's a big Universe.

It is approximately 800,000 "parsecs" away (800 kiloparsecs)...

that's roughly 2,610,000 light years away!

The "particle horizon", the horizon of the visible part of the universe,

is 4 "gigaparsecs" away...

That's 4 billion parsecs, or 13.2 billion (13,200,000,000) light years away

from us!

Our sun is only 8.3 light-minutes from the earth!

It's almost unfathomable to think about.

acc, how to insert more text into pic description for Andromeda pic

* Note on the "close" distance: To put this 600 light years into perspective...
The furthest celestial body visible to the naked eye is the Andromeda Galaxy (M31).

try editing it it get truncated or how to add text between two pics.

Hi Clifford
mm. I thought this was posted earlier ? In anycase, its good to show it again for the newbies. There is a limit to text you can put in the description, so I suggest you insert the text in the post instead...
cheers

our existence is almost insignificant, i would say.
yet, we make so much fuss about it.
fighting wars, killing people.
we only have limited time on this beautiful planet, we should make the most of it.

thanks for the sharing the images. it helps the newbies like us.
