Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!
However, I heard that this small scope can compare to the biggest scopes in Singapore if brought up north to a truly dark spot, of course with the advantage that this scope can easily be transported.
What the person probably meant was that a small scope in a dark sky can perhaps show as much as a big scope under light-polluted skies. put both under dark skies and the big scope will reign supreme.
I wonder if there is a seller in singapore ?
Unfortunately no. Check out Chris' posting on how he brought one in.
cc,
yup. sorry if I didn't make that clear enough. Thanks for clarifying what I meant.
Kelvin,
the eye relief is as Weixing said.. it depends on the eyepiece, not the scope. So no problem there scopewise anyway. I wear glasses and have no problems with my eyepieces.
ok, then i shall make this scope the top of my shopping list, seems pretty good, i don't really venture too far out, mostly in my room watching the skies, so light polluation is one thing,
Slow motion motor ? Does it mean i can control the scope's X and Y axis using something like a pad.
i been hitting the internet hard, but never manage to find something looks like a GOTO pad connect to it.
The RA does not have a slow motion motor. It only has slow motion controls. That just means that you have little knobs that you can turn to do fine adjustments to keep you view on your target.
what ! :!: oh ok, got you, i been hearding things, i thought there was a motor somewhere. the motor that gives "simple declination motor that compensates for the rotatation of the earth"
So i can't control this motor ? So i can only control the scope in slow motion using knots on the scope.

the motor is either switched on or off. there is no other control.
you can disengage the clutch and move the OTA by hand or using the slomo knobs.

I'm a new owner of an ETX90ra. If you want, you can ask specific questions here and I'll try to answer them.
There are a few other owners around, rich being one of them. Do introduce yourselves! I would like to know your experiences with the etx90 too!
clear skies
Chris
Oh yes please !!
Are the ETX90RA a good overall scope ? Meaning you can see all the popular M objects, nebales, planets, under good seening conditions ??
Do the scope last, rugged under good care and handling, will the motor burn out or coating will wear off ??
Is the eye relief good ? I wearing specs and therefore i would like it.
About the M-object thing, seeing in Singapore is EXTREMELY poor, to say the least. Even with a good 6-8 inch telescope, most of the M objects turns out quite poorly. So I think they are out of question for the ETX90. Be that as it may, if you go somewhere else where the seeing is good, the ETX will give you decent images. Planets, and some extremely bright nebulas (such as orion) are probably the best you can do in singapore with the ETX.
Eye relief is not a matter of the scope. It is dependent upon the eyepiece you get.
yup, i see, well i most doing planets, moons. M object i not so insterested. well, i stll find it very hard to find this ETX90RA model. Even many people have given good reviews about it,
