Carrying case/bag for Celestron NexStar 6SE

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

Carrying case/bag for Celestron NexStar 6SE

Post by asterixsg »

Hello,
Recently I purchased the Celestron NextStar 6SE telescope with tripod etc. - basically the whole setup.
It has burnt a pretty big hole in my pocket and it still hurts :(

With Weixing's help, I put it to use last Friday to take some pics of the moon. Yeah, that kinda helped ease the pain

Now, the problem I have is how to transport it. This one doesn't come with a carrying case/bag for the scope+mount as well as the tripod. It really is a pain.

Any suggestions on where I can get a case locally, is most appreciated.
Also, I intend taking the equipment overseas. Any ideas for a hard case that I can purchase locally too would help.

I've got these two links for the hardcase and bags. Both are US based and I guess their cost ( plus shipping costs) would make me starve for the next 1 month.

get soft cases la. For the tripod, just get any camera tripod case. For the OTA, just get a small backpack.

If you go get hardcases, the cases itself is more cumbersome than your scope + tripod...ended up they become the burden, not your scope.

It makes me wonder...before you buy your scope, didn't you even thought about how to carry them?

Yeah, call it a newbie mistake or whatever. I thought that the scopes usually come with a bag. Never bothered to check beforehand.

Thanks for your suggestions.

bro, try this bag or simliar ones from the same PC maker (shuttle).

This brand of PC makes Small Form Factor (SFF) PCs and is meant to be portable. It's very thickly padded on the inside.

I'm using thisfor my C6

Yes I'm using a very large two compartments tennis bag to carry
a C5 OTA, the single arm mount AND the tripod.

*This tennis bag will not be able to carry the 6SE setup.

Hi,
As what I suggest, you first need to figure out what items can be check in and what items you can't.

Here are some suggestion:
1) OTA Bag (Carry-on): One camera bag to put your camera & lens. One bigger bag to put the C6 OTA and the camera bag. You can get those unpadded backpack and use those yoga or camping matt as padding. Make sure the bag dimension is within the limit of the carry-on baggage size.
2) NexStar Mount Bag (Check in): One small accessory bag for eyepieces, diagonal & barlow. One bag to put the NexStar mount, the small accessory bag, your clothing and etc. You can use your clothes or those yoga or camping matt as padding if you get an unpadded bag.
3) Tripod Bag (Check in): A long bag to put your NexStar tripod and camera tripod. You can use those yoga or camping matt as padding if you get an unpadded bag.

Have a nice day.
