shot with 70-300mm VR lens at 70mm x1.4 TC( lazy to remove it from an earlier shot) VR off.
moon was shot with F8 1/100, star shot with F8 8secs

thanks for the encouragement.rcj wrote:hi opteron,
good to see you here. the picture looks fine for a "virgin" attempt. you might like to get more focal length for a bigger moon next....but this would be good for taking conjunctions (say with Venus and the moon together, etc).
sorry man, not sure what star it is. only told by my dad some bright star was making it's appearance beside the moon.aquillae wrote:Beautiful shots.
I believe the star was Antares?
Btw, speaking of conjunction, July 1st (after sunset) is going to be fun. Saturn and Venus will be pretty close in the sky.
It's not the camera body fault. There are a few things that will affect the Moon image at longer focal length:i wanted to superimpose a 420mm zoom moon on it but my CCD cant resolve the moon surface well.
thinking of changing the body.
I think that should be Jupiter... the Antares is very near the Moon at that time (Saturday, 05 May 2007 0200-0300) ... basically in the halo of Moon.i shot at 0200-0300 on last sat morning
