Lagoon In Colour

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Lagoon In Colour

Post by rcj »

Hi all,

Here is the colour version (finally!). Quite a feat getting all the individual colour channels, but think it paid off. Here is the first colour image (resized) from the new TOA refractor from the balcony, taken last Friday night. Probably another frame next to it to cover most of the core nebula structures completely, in the next.

thanks..

yes, am using the colour filter wheel from SBIG. it is working fine so far but adds a little more weight to the entire imaging setup. As the mount is not GOTO, i have to find the object of interest manually first but plugging in the eyepiece, prior which i have to alter the weight balance, and then once the object is in place, in the camera goes instead, and the weight balance has to be changed again. A high power finder (with large FOV) will help here if object of interest is large and conspicuous enough to ignore the need of searching and composing the object in the main FOV.

actually, the image above still needs more colour data, it is still exhibiting colour noise which indicates a lack of enough colour data. More time, more exposures! till then.
