Leo Galaxies

Post by rcj »

Another image from the recent Mersing trip, this time, on galaxies from Leo - M65 and M66. As the constellation was about to set into the western horizon, there was little time to capture the colour channels, and wanted to focus more attention on colour nebulae later that night (Swan Nebula). The image can be found in Albums' Deep Sky Photos folder.

Nice shot, great job.

By the way is there be another galaxy nearby, to form the so called the Leo triplet.

yes Clifford! NGC3268 could not be 'fitted' into the same FOV..alas, otherwise the edge-on would be a nice bonus...

the luminance sub-exposures for this particular image is 10 minutes in duration. I took 4 of them successively. Managed another 2, 15 minutes exposures of the same composure but have not processed them yet.

Super shot, Remus. Great detail in the spiral arms- and nice to see both galaxies in the same frame.

Go well!
