Wanted: Cleaning Solution for Meade UHTC Coatings

Post by kayheem »

Hi guys,

It is equipment-cleaning time after a wonderful 2nd nite in Mersing last weekend.

Does anyone have the special solution for cleaning the Meade UHTC coatings?

Are there any other suitable alternatives?

Thanks!

I asked about cleaning liquid for eyepieces.

I suppose the liquid can be used for all multicoated surfaces.

I'm using what CC advised: Isopropyl Alcohol 70% + distilled water (for drinking) . both available in Guardian Pharmacy.

Apparently the UHTC coating is not any multicoating. VinSnr had some and I am waiting for him to chime in after failing to get a response from his old mobile phone and from PM.

mm...I used to use the isopropyll solution on my ETX too.
But usually I find that once I return home and the dew dries up, it leaves no residue. Of course I nornally do not have dew because I use a heat pack!
I know Dr Clay Sherrod does sell a special UHTC cleaning solution that he formulated himself.

That's what I found too. Mentioned that can only used for 4-5 times of cleaning.

Hi river,
The UHTC coatings have a property that cling onto film-like oil stains and dust particles in a static manner. Dr Clay's solution is able to overcome this. Application of the solution must be via 100% cotton (and lint free).
