Sunspot 960

Post by mrngbss »

Here's Sunspot 960. Amazing sunpot in recent weeks.

Baader Solar Continum filter and Herschel wedge has helped me to obtain this clear and sharp image. Post processing was easily done when the image was split into RGB channels. The Red and Blue channel were discarded leaving the Green Channel. This image appeared more clearly than other channels and was used for post processing. I think stacking may help in clarity too, but alas.. I do not know how.

Enjoy.

Hi
Looks ok to me...I have never seen the sun on a telescope with special filter. They must look very interesting in real life. Do you see flames dancing around the sun spot area?

hi Pooh,
i see you used a Herschel Wedge. have you tried putting a Ha/narrowband filter behind that to see what the result is like?
i've always wonder if there's enough Ha left after the wedge to extract some useful info...

Some wavelet sharpening will help also. But be careful not to overdo wavelet sharpening.

You can try Toucam to take the avi and stack in registax and do small amounts of wavelet processing, this is what I got last time:

You very brave to do solar imaging in this weather! I gave up after dehydration and sun burn after trying to capture solar flares!

I do not wish to try it. Scary...

I would think it is not possible, otherwise there would be reports on the use of the two in combination. I will stick to have the ERF and Ha filter together.
