Solar Observation for Fund Raising - Help Needed !

Post by Lee »

Hi guys,

My daughter school is again having their Funding Raising cum Racial Harmony Day this Saturday. I'll volunteering to setup a Solar Observation Station for that day.

I'm looking for helpers to setup & mend the Solar Observation station which will likely include :-

Setup:
Kendrick Observation Tent
Meade 3/5" ETX & PST on a LX55D for White & Ha Observation
Meade 12" & PST on a LX200GPS for White & Ha Observation
Saturn, Venus, Mercury if weather permit

Target S$ to be raised:
None, but hopes to get at least 200 viewing @ S$0.50 each.

Location:
Meet at Elias Park Primary School @ Pasir Ris (walking distance from MRT)
Time: 8am to 3pm

Goodies:
1. A S$15 ticket to watch the 5pm Sin-ex vs Mal-ex & Sin vs Aus Farewell Football Match @ National Stadium on that very day.
2. Complimentary Loan of the PST for 1 week per helpers. (self-collect
both ways my place)

Thanks,
Wee Kiong

P.S. : Thanks R.Low & MooEy for volunterring in 2005.

I have added an extra Goodies for the helpers; a complimentary loan of the PST for 1 week.

Any other suggestions to make the Solar Observation more interesting beside viewing through White & Ha filter. Projecting 'Live' images to a TV monitor with side -by-side 'Live' images from the internet might be another option.

Also any other suggestions to increase the Fund Raising. The target audiences are the parents & kids. As each viewing is only S$0.50 will be happy if we can get more than 100 viewings (for S$50 raised) considering veru much depend on the weather that day.

Might also setup a booth to sell low cost Astro-related items from S$0.50 to not more than S$10. Will also need Photographer to take shots of the viewers and we can charge them for the printout.

Therefore I will need :-
a. 2 helpers to monitor the scopes
b. 1 helper w/digital camera to take photo
c. Astro-related stuff for sales - for the kids

Let me know by this Thursday.

Thanks!
