Losmandy for Atlas, EQ-6 mounts!!

Post by Meng Lee »

This is the dream piece of accessory:

http://www.astro.premcom.com/ADM/ADM%20 ... QG-SAD.htm

for converting EQ-6 to Losmandy style.

This is for Vixen GP mounts to Losmandy style:

Unless you are using Losmandy tube ring, I don't see the advantage of converting Vixen GP style saddle to Losmandy Saddle using this method.

Have a nice day.

I think they said Losmandy style is more stable. Perhaps because Vixen style mounts usually employ one point locking. And the slope of the Vixen style dovetail is gentler. Not too sure about these.

Yes. Losmandy style seem to be more stable and secure. But, IMHO, using this type of adapter to convert to losmandy style saddle doesn't help as the adapter still need to attach to the Vixen GP saddle... back to square one.

Have a nice day.

Oh, for the EQ-6, it is the replacement of the Vixen attachment plate on the mount and replace with the Losmandy attachment plate. So this is worth it.

I think it is meant for people whose scope has a losmandy dovetail, but his mount is a Vixen mount.

Happens all the time especially if he buy 2nd hand. Either he buy this adaptor, or he go buy a Vixen dovetail instead.

Have a nice day.

well, to be more flexible, when you buy tuberings from Parallax, you specify 2 holes drilled and tapped centred 60mm, then William Optics Losmandy and Vixen Dovetail plates are available for mounting. By mounting the Losmandy dovetail plate on top of the tube rings, then options like William Optics 100mm guiding rings and Losmandy original guidescope rings will be available for mounting. In that way, everything is interchangeable.
