Hi,
Looks like I'm convinced the 102mm is more than adequate for wide-field astrophotography.
Guess what I actually need is an EQ mount that has autotracking.

Anyone selling theirs ?
Currently, there is two Vixen GP/GP2 mount on sale which is more than enough for your 102mm F5 scope:
1) http://www.singastro.org/viewtopic.php?p=40896#40896 (without tripod)
2) http://www.singastro.org/viewtopic.php?t=4904

You just need to get the one motor drive and the RA motor controller and you are really to go.

Have a nice day.

Showed wife the pix and the 1st thing she did was frown  when she saw the counter-weights.....

Guess those huge tripods are out of the question for the time being
Shouldn't have shown her the pix. Should have just bought it first !!

For your 102mm F5 scope, I think just one 3.7kg counter-weight should be enough... may require an extra 1.9kg counter-weight if you also mount your DSLR on it.

The tripod you saw in Ariefm71 post is not a Vixen tripod... I think that the tripod for Meade 8" SCT LX90. Anyway, a Vixen tripod AL-130/AL-150 is quite light.

Anyway, Vixen GP mount is light, portable and may be one of the best low cost mount available.

Have a nice day.
