anyone using Meade DS-2114ATS or Celestron PowerSeeker 127?

Here is the place to talk about all those equipment(Telescope, Mounts, Eyepieces, etc...) you have. Not sure which scope/eyepiece is best for you? Trash it out here!

The short answer is that, in astro, we don't really seek power (unless observing planets), we seek more light (more aperture).

Even for planets, when you want high power, you need excellent optics to achieve that power. Anything short of excellent optics, you get mushy high power views , then its useless.

I agree with many of the veterans here. Do go for stargazing sessions and look through many scopes, then decide.

Scopes suitability is different for different people. Scopes optimised for Deep sky objects and planets are also quite different. Portability is also a personal factor. Of course budget is a crucial factor.

i currently have a lousy china brand telescope which i brought for a cheap price but the specifications doesnt seem to be true... haha... budget is very important to me too... haha... i know i wont be expecting to see clear view of cluster or stars... but at least i hope to see something... planets also... i hope to have a clear view of things such as the ring of saturn or even uranus... haha...

No no no, a small good quality telescope such as:

http://www.williamoptics.com/telescopes ... atures.htm

will show you clear views. If you are under dark skies, this small scope can show you clusters clearly!

This scope can definitely show you Saturn Rings clearly! You can see Uranus with it, but of course not the rings of Uranus.

So I would say, you may spend a small amount of money on a lousy scope and see hardly anything clearly. Might as well spend a bit more and then this scope can give you views that are so clear and sharp and make you wow.
