Galactic Widefield from A.S.I.G.N.

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Galactic Widefield from A.S.I.G.N.

Post by Barry »

Our galactic centre near Sagittarius. Lagoon and Trifid nebulae centre image.

Cannon EOS 400D unmodified with 75-300mm lens at F/5.6

12 x 2 minute exposures at ISO800

Piggybacked on fork mounted and polar aligned Nexstar 11 GPS

Manual guiding

Darks subtracted and processed with Deep Sky Stacker and Photoshop

The sky was beautiful tonight until the moon took over. Friday nights are my best night, but there are so many factors against limiting yourself to a particular night per week. I would have added more subs, but the extra light in the sky may have ruined it.

Anyway, I hope you all like it.

Cheers,

Baz.

Can i ask something? Is this wide Field taken through a larger telescope or simply through the naked eyes? Cuz the smudges indicating nebulae are really obvious, among the twinkling stars.

Hi,
Is this wide Field taken through a larger telescope or simply through the naked eyes?
Hmm... I think you can't capture a image through the naked eye at the moment yet... hee hee

Anyway, his image is taken through a camera lens as he mentioned in his post. Those bright nebula are very obvious and can be seen (without the beautiful colours) easily using just your naked eye in dark sky country... Go Mersing and you'll know what I mean... :)

Have a nice day.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad you all like it. I plan to do another with longer subs.
