the eos's shutter is its weak point. the gasket around the shutter has a tendency to melt, esp if the camera is kept in a dry box, the high temperature will accelerate its demise.
it's probably cheaper to send the 350d to canon for repair/replace the shutter, than to buy a 2nd hand one.
Yes... if only the shutter is not working, you can send for repair to replace it... should be cheaper than buy a used one.
