Very hard to believe something like the Invasion will happen around here. However , the chances of external world viruses being brought in by meteorites are still high though.

It may be just toxic gases released from the meteorite (e.g. H2S), or from the ground after the impact opened up a gas pocket (e.g. methane). After all, miners are always at risk of these poisonous gases underground.

Reminds me of the show Andromeda Strain starring Robert Duvall. I think it was based on a book by Michael Crichton (not sure of the spelling) the same author who gave you Congo, Timeline, Twister and Westworld.
It tells how a satellite that crashed on earth brought back a deadly virus that started killing everyone in a town....

Hi,

Have a nice day.
The "Head and Shoulders" shampoo movie...Makes me remember another show too..
Think the name is Evolution. Its more about evolving into alien creatures.
The actor is the same guy that acted in X-Files (the male agent).

Have a nice day.

Doesn't sound like a biological agent at work. They usually require an incubation period of at least a few hours before symptoms appear.
This one sounds more like a chemical agent at work. Which brings to the possibility of what chemicals might be in the meteorite when it stuck the ground. The meteorite will be superheated when it enters the atmosphere anyway, and any minerals on it can be vapourised and be inhaled by the locals.
Either that, or Homer Simpson dumped his canister of pig dung into the village and blamed the meteorite.
