Request pictures from Newbies

Post by Meng Lee »

Hi,

I would like to test the waters for the astrophotography competition.

May I request newbies to use their digital cameras and take Andromeda + M31 (no DSLR), and submit your pictures here?

I would like to see what you can capture. Although there is no prize, but it paves the way for the astrophotography competition that will be setup in future.

If you need any help or advice, you can post here or PM me.

Thanks so much !!

I don't think so.

Hey newbies, try put it at 70mm, ISO 400-800 and expose 45 secs and see how!

Ooops, so sorry, its true that typical digital cameras can only go to about 15s at most.

Then this is open to DSLR newbies also.

check if your digital camera come with PC control cable and software, you can do more when you connect your Camera to a notebook(if you have one). I was using Canon S45.

some camera like the old coolpix 4500 come with control cable to control the exposure duration.

let's be realistic. should someone who can afford a DSLR, be considered a newbie? What defines a newbie? How about a mount needed to take M31? Why not start with planets and moon first? Unless you are talking about taking M31 with a zoom lens on DSLR via a camera tripod, perhaps a different target may be better.

Seems to be an ill-posed problem.
May i suggest definition of newbies means < 217 posts in the forum?
