Observation Alert: Moon near Venus and Jovian Transit

Post by chrisyeo »

Greetings!

If weather permits and you have the time, you might want to look out for these events tonight, 23rd Feb.

1) Moon near Venus.
Too bad the nearest seperation occurs only after the moon sets, but should be a beautiful sight after sunset if clouds don't block it. Moon should also provide opportunity to see earthshine

2) Callisto shadow transit
Io's and Callisto's shadows will be visible from around 1245am. From what I read, Callisto transits are pretty rare.

Just for your information!
Clear skies,
Chris
