Hi guys, so what plans do you all have for 2009?

On 26th Jan. 2009 there will be a partial solar eclipse for Singapore(annular for Inndonisia), isn't that a good chance to hold an event to promote astro?
Clear skies please...

Hmmm, that sounds really good. Perhaps we can compile a list of astronomical events in 2009 visible in Singapore and then prepare for a year-round astro public events organised by various instituitions to spead out the resources.

Year 2009 is 400 years after Galileo pointed the telescope at the heavens.

Hmm, if its going to be a year long event, then planning will need at least 9 months, i think.

Read the objective here:

Certainly needs quite a lot of planning. Maybe we can do something very big in the middle or nearer to the start of all major happenings, to attract people in all the ongoing activities. Maybe even make it an ASEAN thing! But if it's gonna be big, organisation probably needs meetings face to face rather than on a forum thread..
Stargazing ... is an excuse to stay up past bedtime that never fails!
