Temasek Poly observing session on 27th Feb

Post by harlequin2902 »

Hi all,

I just returned from this evening's observing session at Temasek Poly. I would like to thank Leslie again for organizing the event and also Soon Yen for giving me and my equipment a 2-way ride in his car. Thanks guys ! :D

Leslie should be posting more details about the event when he returns home tomorrow. But in the meantime, here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure :) :

hi sam...looks like you all had a wonderful time!
chung hooi called me earlier to ask about the event but I guess he did not make it after all....
my wedding dinner started at 9pm and finished only at 11+!!

by the time I called leslie, all of you had already left which proved a disappointment for my colleague who had really wanted to see the scopes present. I noticed chris yeo and shenzenus also did not attend presumably because it ended early..?

As a compensation for getting my colleague all enthusiasted, I set up my 80mm refractor near my house and let him see the moon, M42, Saturn and Jupiter. Could not show him more as the scope's maximum magnification was only x63. Seeing wasn't that great but planets are ok...

nonetheless, it was enough to fire him up....hope to see him more in future sessions!

How about organizing the next session at the patch of field in front of Tanah Merah MRT? It's not exactly an ideal place, but slightly darker than TP sports ground. Being beside the MRT, it's convenient for everyone....Super convenient for me! Duh!

you can always join SP's astro club activities...they are fairly active if sky is clear and there is no exams. usually over night events too.
bonus is you will usually find remus there giving advice to newbies..
check out their forum at sp_astro@yahoogroups.com for news on sessions.
sometimes their president Sam Lee may post the invitation here...

ps their friday sessions are currently shutdown for their exams and will resume after 19 Mar 04.
