CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!
The colimation of the optic not good enough, thin cloud and high humidity.
It is a very rush imaging session. Not manage to find the green filter....don't know put somewhere.....at the end, used an OIII filter to shot as green....
did you try using a smaller alignment box (and placing on the "gap" between the globe and the inner ring portion) and using the Gradient method for alignment algorithm (rather than adopting the default Compression method)? It may give sharper results even with the fact that the collimation is not consistently tad on for these SCTs.
Is the "gap" you mention here, the ring shadow on globe? I am using that narrow ring shadow on globe for alignment. The box size is 256.
Will try next time with smaller alignment box. Thank you very much for your input.
I am afraid even focus also not that well.
Hi, gret image: I think focus and processing are good and that the "blurrness" comes from a bit of decollimation.
I would suggest you collimate the scope before your next Saturn and see how it improves the result,
how are the raw frames like, perhaps that would give u a better idea of the condition of the system, and sieve out the actual problem and solve it at hand. would be a challenge nevertheless to reach the right focus particularly for the B and R channels, especially when the seeing "vortices" are taken into account. The overall colour looks good nevertheless. Have tried to brighten it up a little (see below). Did you resample 2X for this image?
