Eye piece n Barlow

Post by delonicdevil »

Hi, can anyone recommend me which brand of eye pieces and barlow are decent at a budget price? I saw some websites selling barlows at less than $100. Are they worth buying? N what type of eye pieces should i preferbly have? Currently I have a 25mm(40X) and a 9mm(111X)

I was thinking about purchasing the celestron eye piece and filter kit if it doesn't cost that much. http://www.astro.com.sg/accessories/cel ... rykits.php

do you think is worth it?

Hi,
Those low cost barlow is not that bad and can perform quite well on slow scope such as yours.

You can try the Astro Bargains ( http://www.astrobargains.com/ )... I think he also had some low cost, entry level barlow.

With a 2x barlow, you'll have the following magnification:
1) 40x (25mm),
2) 80x (25mm with 2x barlow),
3) 111x (9mm), and
4) 222x (9mm with 2x barlow) - the maximum magnification for your scope.

Anyway, base on above, IMHO, you don't need the accessory kits... may be just a 2x barlow is good enough... unless you can find one at a very good price. :) Also, if you want to get another eyepiece, you might want to consider one that had magnification at around 150x for high power view as I think you might be pushing your scope a bit too hard at the maximum magnification of 222x.

Happy observing and have a nice day.
