King of Planets on 21 July 08

Post by Robin Lee »

The Jupiter is taken on 11pm 20 July 08. Moon was bright and the seeing was good. I took a few sets of images saved as .avi. The equipment used was 8" LX90 @ 4000mm with QHY5.

This image is composed of 129 subs each exposured at 800ms and gain set at... (arghh.. forgot..)

The white tone Jupiter was enchanced by the forumer Larry at CloudyNights.com

Thanks man. Is it better to record the images in avi format or fits? I wonder which will provide better image data.

practically, the difference will not be significant for either choice. but note that for avi recording, it is best to have it uncompressed (Y800, etc). Either way, it is best to ample HD space!

Hey!

Nice one! Use any barlow lens ? I still don't know how to make the Jupiter get white one like yours :D

Which software did you use to stack & edit ?

Clear Skies!

I use Registax 4 for stacking and wavelet processing.

I did use 2x barlow (integrated in Denkmeier PowerXSwitch). I am not sure how to modify the tone too. I think it's by adjusting RGB value.

Robin.

You can adjust the colour balance in Registax itself, so no need photoshop whatever. Curves is in Registax also.
