Not to take up too much post on the Astronomy 2008 thread, so I create a thread for the coming partial lunar eclipse on 17 Aug 2008.

Below are the lunar eclipse timing:
P1 -> 16 Aug 2008 18:23:07 UT (17 Aug 2008 02:23:07 SGT)
U1 -> 16 Aug 2008 19:35:47 UT (17 Aug 2008 03:35:47 SGT)

i'll probably be headed to the field you mentioned for the event with my 5" newtonian powerseeker .

will be bringing friends , and im 18 , so yeah . hope to see you there .

pray it doesnt rain or gets cloudy .

Hey letburn. Wow, that'd be cool. I won't be lonely then! But just to let you know something first. I'm a newbie astronomer, and I don't really know anything, and I'm not even sure if we can catch a good view of the eclipse on that night around my area cause I've heard it's better to be at the edge. But if the eclipse is visible at my area, then I'll definitely be viewing at the Buangkok MRT area cause it's near my house. (:

ahahs yupps . bad weather has always been our bane .

but if it doesnt rain , i think the weather should be decent and we should at least get a moon view .

dont worry , im an amateur myself too (:

i just need to be sure . the event will occur on the SUNDAY morning , 17th of august right ? from 2am - 5am . cus i saw in the papers , it was published as the 16th of august .

Yup, that's right. It'll be occuring on 17th August. The timing is on the first post, so yeah. I'm going out to check out the field tomorrow night to see if it's any good. Just got my binoculars today, heh. (:
