Hello everyone,
I'm a newbie to astronomy and also this forum. This is my first post and I'm very interested in astronomy and astrophotography.
I have a Nikon DSLR D60. I am wondering can I use this camera to connect to telescope to take some pictures?
If yes, can anyone recomend some beginner's telescope to connect with this camera? (Budget about S$500...)
If possible, please state the model and price of the telescope.
Thank you
You can connect the D60 via a Nikon T-ring and another mating adapter (usually "outputting" as a 2-inch visual adapter) into the open mouth end of any telescope. You can look out in the Buy/Sell section for great 2nd hand deals on telescope OTAs (optical tube assembly). A rich field refractor (3 to 4 inches) or a short Maksutov would be nice to have for a start. If you are keen on deep sky objects, then a Newtonian would be good too, though a little longer. In any case, do drop by the A2008 event this Saturday, and you will have a greater glimpse of everything in astronomy in Singapore and the great astro community here. If you are a novice, you will be pleased to attend a morning talk on introductory astronomy, and since you are keen on astrophotography, there will be workshop on astronomy-imaging later in the day. And you can also get instant answers and discussions from all our SINGASTRO members present there, and meet new friends in this wonderful hobby!
Do come to Astronomy 2008 to check out different type of telescopes that on display and look through them at the observation session at the evening. That'll give you a good idea what to look for for your first scope.
Have a nice day.
