Triangulum Galaxy in Punggai

CCD vs Film? Lots of time vs no patience? Alright, this is your place to discuss all the astrophotography what's and what's not. You can discuss about techniques, accessories, cameras, whatever....just make sure you also post some nice photos here too!

Triangulum Galaxy in Punggai

Post by rcj »

An under-rated galaxy just next to the well-known Andromeda Spiral, Triangulum Galaxy is associated well with its bright HII regions, manifesting as reddish nebulosity in the image below around its spiral arms. It also takes on a dimmer core than M31, but with very pronounced arm structure. Did not devote much time in gathering exposure time. Only about 5 minutes x 3 per colour channel, so it might be a little grainier. Same setup as the one with the Trifid Nebula posted yesterday. After this image, was too tired and slept at 2AM thereafter, even with crystalline skies above!

The Local Group has M31 and M33 and both are as beautiful. Sigh if only our bear eyes could witness the Majesty of such wonders.
