Hi,
Owners of the Nexstar SCTs, could you tell me if it is possible to use the Goto mount for astrophotography in Singapore? From what I read in the Nexstar manual, you will have to polar align the scope first for accurate tracking but how can you do that with the NCP just 1 deg above the horizon? Even the optional Nexstar wedge only list the working latitudes to be 25-90 deg.
If it could be done , I am seriously considering getting one , which I will be using mainly in Singapore.
Thank you.
WR
Can the Nexstar 8SE be used for astrophotography?

Hi,
Not an issue if you do lunar and planetary imaging. If you want to do piggy back or prime focus imaging, this setup is not suitable.
Basically, an EQ mount setup will be the best choice for Astrophotography.
Happy shopping and have a nice day.
