Just join this forum today.....need some opinion for this scope. I visited Perseid Telescope shop few weeks ago and they recommended this scope as my first scope.
I'm interested on astrophotograph. So would appreciate if you guys could suggest any additional equipments should i get for taking better astro pictures. Thanks

Sky-Watcher SKP2001HEQ5
Hi,
For this setup, if you want to take good astrophotos, you will need these:
For Deep sky photography
1) Change HEQ-5 to at least EQ-6 level
2) Depending on the size of your camera, you may need a shorter, stronger focuser and coma corrector
3) Autoguiding system
4) more counterweights
For planetary
1) you need very precise collimation
2) 3x barlow of high quality
3) planetary camera
Hope these helps.

thanks for the reply...here are some questions.
1) can briefly explain the differences for EQ5 and EQ6 mount ?
2) is GO-TO mount helpful on astrophotograph or simple motor drive should sufficient enough?
3) I'm using nikon D80 DSLR, just wondering is this camera good for taking pictures on deep sky objects ?
4) any recommendation on auto guiding systems ?
Thanks again

1) The reason for recommending EQ-6 is because the photography rig must not load too much on the mount. EQ-6 has higher loading capacity than HEQ-5.
2) GOTO or motor drive is not the issue. The issue is, is there an autoguider port or not.
3) This camera is good for deep sky objects. But not good for nebulae. If you want to take nebulae, you got to expose about 3-4 times longer.
4) You can use the 80mm short tube with Meade DSI or Orion Starshoot autoguider or the Canada KWIQ system.
