2 Days Passed Full Moon

Post by cataclysm »

Here is another Moon mosaic taken about 2 weeks ago. Going for higher resolution, I had it imaged with the Tak Mewlon 210 & DMK21 mono camera. Conditions were not ideal at the time of imaging, very windy and seeing was bad, coupled with hight humidity, the Moon looked wash out to the naked eye. Interesting as it seems, this form of composite imaging allow us transcend the dynamic range and limitations of our imaging devices. The finished image looks better than my expectation. The only let down was there is one corrupted video file on the south eastern limb, prevented me from completing the mosaic.

Wow, very high resolution! I love mosaics, but it's really a pity that you didn't get to complete the South Eastern limb, or else it'd be a perfect mosiac! (:

Hi,
Excellent photo.. Did you use any software to like registax for improving the contrast or is it just long exposure time ?

The final image size is huge, it is made up of 130+ subs with about 25-30% overlaps. The finished pic is approx 4500X4500 pix. Took me nearly about a week of my free time to stitch it together.

Yes Registax is still the gold standard for stacking and for preliminary sharpening of the stacked avi images. The stacked images were then stitch together with photoshop.
