Hi trowa,

Welcome to Singastro !

If you browse the "events and observation sessions" section, you'll see that some of the members here do organize observing sessions with their telescopes every now and then - as long as we have good skies overhead. These sessions are open to everyone (including members of the general public :D )

In fact, I'm planning to have another session at Toa Payoh Central this evening if the skies are clear (it's raining over here now). You are most welcome to join me and my telescope and also meet some of the regular members who will usually drop by.

Best wishes,
Samuel Ng

Hi,
Welcome to SingAstro and the exciting world of Astronomy!!! :D :D

Actually, there are quite a number of vendors that you can get Astronomy stuffs from in Singapore:

1) Astro Scientific Centre in Science Centre - http://www.astro.com.sg
2) Harlequin Astronomics, Singapore - http://www.harlequinastronomics.com
3) McGill Commercial House - http://www.mcgill.com.sg
4) StarMatrix - http://www.star-matrix.com

Or if you are on a tight budget and don't mind a 2nd hand scope or astronomy stuff, check out the Buy and Sell section.... the price are quite attractive. :)

I would recommend you read up the FAQ section to find what type of instrument most suit your requirement.

We are actually not an official club... just a group of people with a common interest(Astronomy of course) setting up a website to promote Astronomy in Singapore.

Where do you live?? Some of our guys here have regular observation session all around the island and they will surely welcome you to join in the fun... :D

Welcome again and have a nice day.

Hi trowa,

I'm glad u have join tis forum. 8)   Actually u should not be in a hurry to buy a scope, u should be learn to star gaze first. Most important do not get trick into buying toy scope that advertise '500 power' for a small scope, these are all poor scopes with inferior quality. They will eventually scare u off. Alas happy observing.

Clear Skies.   8)

Hi Trowa,
Welcome to Singastro....do take time to get to know this hobby better.
Can start by reading the FAQs on this forum. The attend a few sessions to learn more about the practical aspects. Currently, Weixing and Samuel are the most active ...they conduct sessions at Tampines and Toa Payoh frequently. Do join them if you can. Only when you are sure this hobby is for you should you proceed to think about getting a scope.
