Whoaa..... 8) :P :P

Tonight's sky condition is fantastic and veri clear, observation today has been veri fruitful and worthwhile. But wat a shame, the light pollution cause by the TP poly cause the horizon to be light washed out. This is a summary of tonight's observation. My instrument was a ETX60 bought from Kelvin powers operating at 14, 38, 58.

1) Jupiter-- It was near Leo, at 14x 3 satellites were seen. At a high magnification Satellites became brighter and vividly seen A brown band was barely glimsped from 1/4 bottom the planet top. The three satellites seems to be in a straight line.

2) Saturn-- It was a slightly elongated disc at low power but at high power ring was easily spotted. I wasn't sure if titan was seen as I think I quite of seen it and my brother insist it was there.

3)Rigel-- It was white and companion easily seen at low powers.

4)M42,M43-- Was a ghostly grey patch seen poorly due to light pollution.

5)M41, M35-- These spectacular cluster highly regarded as celestial gems, are poorly seen from my location with only a sprinkle of 12 and 8 stars observed only.

6)Alcor and Mizar are also easily resolved at all powers. Ursa Major looked splendid.

7) The stars of Regulus, Zosma, chort in Leo was seen too bad got no time to hunt for M65, M66.

8)Arcturus of Bootes was seen and Spica of Virgo was seen too bad got no time for M87.

congrats fizzy123....you are one of a few who actually got out to take advantage of the better skies. :-)
if you had stayed till 10pm...you would have been able to see the Jewel Box as well as omega centauri as well (skies good enough tonight?).

You mean that night? no, I did not do any observing.
Which clusters are you talking about?

The Jewel box cluster next to crux is a nice one. Its named thus due to the apparent multi-colours of its stars. I prefer to call it "Christmas tree" cos that's how I see it...

The more popular object in Centaurus would definitely have be the globular cluster , Omega centauri. Its naked eye in Mersing but not so visible here.
An 8" scope would be able to do it justice in Singapore...
